Review of The Sunnyset Pugs by Lela Labree Stute

The Pug Series continues with The Sunnyset Pugs by Lela LaBree Stute.  In this adventure, the Pugs are stuck at home in a snowstorm with no electric or phone.  They must find a way to eat, stay warm, and occupy themselves until the storm passes.

The Sunnyset Pugs is a fun story that young readers will enjoy.  As always, the pages are filled with full color photos taken by the author herself.  I give this one four stars****.

It’s cold and miserable in Wisconsin

The electricity has gone out and the furnace won’t run.

Cissy, Ingah and Bea are snowed in.

Their nearest neighbour is out of town and they are stranded.

They don’t have a telephone, radio or a flashlight and roads are blocked.

To make matters worse Bea is acting strangely.

She has a deranged look in her eyes and she isn’t making a lot of sense.

Cissy and Ingah are frightened.

They are out in the middle of nowhere and one of them is acting crazy.

How will the pugs handle this latest disaster?

Come along with me, let’s peek through the window and see what happens.

Will the pugs be okay?

Will Bea go completely unhinged?

Will they survive until spring?

Shh…I see Bea rolling around on the floor arms and legs flying about….

She appears to be delirious, completely unstable.

Cissy looks worried and I hear Ingah crying.

Let’s huddle together and see what happens……

                                                  Summary

It was just about time for summer vacation.  The three pugs were organising their

summer calendar.

Bea had been studying her mail order correspondence course for the final

Morris Code test. She planned on becoming a full fledged Morris Code Expert

and possibly a highly regarded Chef at the Royal Pugton Hotel.

Bea also had been watching her neighbours quite closely and had made

their business her business.

She was confident that she was now experienced enough to open her own

home surveillance company cleverly named “THE SPY'S EYES.”

Bea had also invested all of her expendable income on smartly

designed costumes in order to remain anonymous while on duty.

Cissy had plans to go to the Mayonnaise Clinic to have her teeth fixed and

have her nose sculptured.

Ingah DuPonte was simply planning on staying home to organise her toys

and other valuables and perhaps develop her own line of pug evening wear

with matching accessories.

Sounds good doesn’t it?  No way!!!

As usual with pugs, things do not go as planned.

What could possibly change these highly synchronized plans you ask?

Aunt Ida and Uncle Edwin Southern Poland for their summer vacation, and they have

decided to leave their puppy, Little Debi, with The Sisters (Cissy Bea and Ingah)

Maybe you are asking “How can those three totally irresponsible, unorganised,

highly emotional pugs manage to babysit a puppy?”

Not to worry! Bea has a plan.

Come along with me and see how the three pugs manage to lose a puppy and how

they are able to make things right with Aunt Ida and Uncle Edwin.

                                      Summary

This is an adventure story with more mystery than you may have experienced before.

Don’t worry if you feel confused, puzzled and disorientated.

These emotions are completely normal when dealing with pugs.

This is what happened…….

It was last November.

The pugs were in their home library dozing off.

That day was just like every other day, but it was different.

They were jolted awake by a loud, crashing sound.

They discovered they were the victims of a home break-in.

Bea quickly checked to see if her designer-dinner-bell collection and fruit-flavoured- chewing gum assortment had been disturbed. (It had not).

Immediately Bea’s investigative instincts kicked in. Why would any reasonably sane robber leave such valuable items? It didn’t make sense.

The Cousins were called and the search party was formed.

Join the Pugs on this confusing search for the bandit.

Be there for the awkward moment whey they discover the intruder’s identity.

Experience the unusual directions Bea gives the Pugs and see the baffling procedure that she uses to catch the villain.

Endure Bea’s unusual loss of appetite.

Witness the upheaval of three pugs being deputised.

Watch the haphazard procedure Bea uses to form a search party and try to follow Bea’s muddled directions.

The ending will delight you and once again, you will be thrilled that you have (or don’t have) pugs in your life.

The Pugs are back in a new adventure!  Freedom Pugs by Lela LaBree Stute is a fantastic tale of three pugs who do not want to go back to school.  Summer break is over and they decide to take off on an adventure instead of heading to class.  Boy did they find themselves in a mess!

Freedom Pugs is a story that young readers can relate to.  We all know how hard it can be for kids to adjust from the fun of Summer, back to the hustle and bustle of the school year.  This book gives the impression that “school is cool”, and bad things can happen if they don’t go and follow the rules.  It teaches a valuable lesson in a fun way.  I give Freedom Pugs five stars*****.

Synopsis

Three pugs go on a summer vacation.

The characters are Ingah DuPonte, Beatrice and Cissy.

The story begins at “the annual pug vacation planning meeting”. The pugs decide on their destination spot and agree to what their activities will be.  Immediately after the meeting they pack up and leave in a carriage-type RV for dogs.

The pugs stop for lunch on the way to their camp ground (pugs are always hungry). After they arrive they find they have not planned well (this often happens to pugs).  Not to worry! There are other activities for them.

The pugs decide to go on a boat ride.  After inspecting the lake for cleanliness, they get on the boat. The boat ride does not go as planned.  Finally they decide to go home.

They pile back in the carriage for the long drive home. The pugs find they are more excited to arrive home than they were to arrive at their vacation spot.

Ingah DuPonte, the youngest pug, gives words of wisdom at the end of the story.  All ends well.

Reviews for PUGS GO ON VACATION

Review of Pugs Go On Vacation by BK Walker Books : Pugs Go On Vacation by Lela LaBree Stute is as cute as they come in children's books.

Three Pug friends make plans to take a summer vacation. Follow them each step of the way with true to life pictures,  and an easy read for young readers.  How do Pugs travel?  By "Deluxe Pug Mobile" of course - a Pug's form of a SUV.

Lela LaBree Stute did a fantastic job turning this simple little tale into an astute Pug adventure.

Pugs Go On Vacation would be a great starter book for beginning readers or a "read together".  A must have for any library.

I enjoyed this book along with my ten year old son who said,  "It's a good book,  I love the pictures.  I would recommend it."  We give it (4)**** Stars.  ~BK Walker, Author/Reviewer of BK Walker Books.  http://bkwalkerbooks.weebly.com

This is one book in a series of pug adventure books

Synopsis

On a cold winter day, a baby pug (Ingah DuPonte) moves into a new home.

Currently living in this home are two adult female pugs, Beatrice and Cissy.

Cissy is tender and sweet but Beatrice is a force to be reckoned with!

Beatrice is big and she’s mean. She’s used to making the rules and enforcing them. Beatrice doesn’t take any back talk or any funny business.

It looks like there are some questions that are going to need answers.

Who will sleep in the big bed?

Who will eat out of the good dish?

Who gets the new toy?

Is Beatrice the beast that she appears to be?

Will Ingah DuPonte adjust to her new home?

Read the full story for a surprise ending.

As always "Pugs just wanna have fun"

Review of The New Guy as told by Ingah DuPonte by Lela LaBree Stute

The New Guy by Lela LaBree Stute is another early pre-school book in the “Pug Adventure Series”.  This one has Ingah DuPonte telling the story of her first day in her new home.  She meets her big sister pugs and Beatrice lays down the rules.

The New Guy is great for small children with short attention spans.  It’s very easy to read, and the pictures are fantastic.  You don’t want to miss this adorable five star ***** addition to the “Pug Adventures”.

Synopsis

One day after eating a light lunch, Ingah DuPonte took a nap (as pugs often do) she fell into a light dreamy sleep.

Suddenly she heard a strange sound. Kind of a rumbling, growling, weird sound. (pugs often hear these sounds)

Then a ghastly disturbance broke loose.

There was an attack…there was a battle… there was conflict, anxiety, fear, anger …incredible excitement (as there often is with pugs).

Read and experience along with Ingah DuPonte one of the most harrowing episodes in her young life.

Go along with her during the fiendish encounter with the big  bad blonde and be there to experience the euphoric victory over evil that she attains.

This is an amazing episode in the life of a courageous pug.

You will never feel the same way again about pugs. (One never does feel the same after spending  time with a pug, under most circumstances anyway)

As always - "Pugs just wanna have fun!"

Work

Lela LaBree, author of THE NEW GUY, THE BIG BAD BLONDE,  PUGS ON VACATION!, RUN-AWAY PUGS, WHEN PUGS FLY! , PUGS IN A BLANKET, LEISURE PUGS and more to come... is editorial director of PhotoDAILY and PhotoLETTER, marketing newsletters that provide photographers with a daily list of photographs needed by magazine and book publishers across the nation. The parent company, PhotoSource International, is located on a farm near Osceola Wisconsin. The offices are in a remodeled 1930’s red barn.

Ms Labree spends her workday with her 3 pugs in her office. ”I’m able to take my pugs out for walks during breaks and during my lunchtime. My office is equipped with 3 pug beds, toys and other pug necessities. When I’m on the phone, the  editor on the other end will hear an occasional snore or pug sound, I explain that it’s coming from one of the pugs, the conversation usually leads to how it is becoming a trend in offices to have pets at work. Most editors say they would give up part of their pay if they could bring a pet to their office as it increases creativity and productivity. I’m grateful to my employer, Rohn Engh, for making our Photosource International office a pug friendly office. He’s also a dog lover and has two Shetland Sheepdogs in their family.

"I have been asked why I have included my work place on this site.

When I started at Photosource International my pug IdaMae was suffering from diabetes. She needed close monitoring with food and insulin. I was making trips back and forth during the day to check on her and give her medication etc.  One day Jeri and Rohn said "Why not bring her in here during the day?"  IdaMae has since passed away, but I have eternal gratitude to my PhotoSource family (Jeri, Rohn and my co-workers) for allowing me to spend the final days with her and continue my work at PhotoSource.
